TRG initially worked with the customer on an equipment buyback opportunity. The customer realized value from their aging equipment and ensured it was responsibly recycled. When they later needed help sourcing and procuring enterprise devices, they turned to us again. Because we support all levels of device lifecycle management along with UEM/MDM support, we were the ideal vendor to help them tackle several global initiatives.
Learn how TRG supports this customer with device procurement, migrations, onsite repair services and more.
The Start of a Long-Term Partnership
The customer purchased legacy Teklogix devices with SOTI licenses issued by Psion. When Psion was acquired by Zebra, all SOTI licensing maintenance renewals needed to be purchased through a reseller. As a long-term partner, Zebra knew that our expertise and breadth of services could support their global operations. With Zebra’s recommendation, the customer began purchasing all new licenses through TRG.
Over the course of several years, TRG supported the client with SOTI license renewals and a range of other services. Our on-site printer support and repairs for their warehouses have been an important component to keeping their enterprise running seamlessly.
A Global Device Refresh to Streamline Hardware
Transitioning devices out of service is an important aspect of lifecycle management. Organizations need to consider how they’ll protect their investment and their data while minimizing disruptions. A global refresh of this scale often consists of upgrading devices ranging from handheld mobile computer devices to printers, scanners and more.
This customer places an emphasis on running the latest and greatest technology and completes a global device refresh every five years. Large scale refreshes can place a burden on internal resources, so they turned to TRG to coordinate device sourcing and procurement across their enterprise. TRG is supporting the customer as another global refresh approaches, this time with additional layers of complexity.
Windows to Android Migration
The upcoming global technology refresh will include a migration from Windows to Android as Microsoft has ended support for all remaining versions of Windows. Facilities that upgrade to higher functioning devices are rewarded with greater speed, higher accuracy, better communication and improved efficiency. Android is a powerfully secure enterprise-grade operating system, and the most advanced companies understand the value this brings to the table.
Enterprise Mobility Management
Managing devices securely is another high priority, which is why the customer relies on SOTI MobiControl. SOTI MobiControl is an enterprise mobility management solution that secures and manages devices across all major operating software (OS) throughout their entire life cycle, from deployment to retirement. The customer has relied on SOTI for years to help give them the flexibility to manage the best devices on the market regardless of manufacturer without having to sacrifice device harmony.
TRG’s MDM/UEM support team developed a golden image for all devices using SOTI MobileControl, ensuring a consistent experience across all devices that ultimately helps improve efficiency. By leveraging our MDM team, the customer was able to expand their bench without having to hire someone internally or bring on another partner and point of contact.
Global Device Procurement
Given the customers footprint, they can utilize TRG Global to procure the new devices they need. Based in Haarlem, The Netherlands, TRG Global is supported by service centers across the United States, Canada and Europe with over 60 highly skilled technicians on-staff. With technicians in close proximity to a customer’s facility and the ability to speak the local language, there are fewer issues with tariffs and compliance.
TRG Global is uniquely positioned to provide the most complete one-stop-shop solution to international customers, across all lifecycle stages and equipment types, regardless of manufacturer.
Zebra Devices to Future-Proof Your Enterprise Mobility
The right mobile technology can enhance business-critical operations while making mobility management less stressful and complex. Security and efficiency are two driving factors for this customer’s global technology refresh. As they consider upgrading legacy devices across the enterprise, they are focused on devices that address these two factors and work best with SOTI.
Devices for Manufacturing Efficiency
With three manufacturing facilities across the globe, the customer requires enterprise devices that seamlessly connect mobile computers, printers and scanners directly to the network. As their enterprise mobility partner, we helped establish a pilot program for them to test Zebra’s MC9300 mobile computers before making an investment. As users provide feedback, we can work collaboratively to understand which device is the best fit for the application and adjust settings to optimize the user experience.
The customer appreciated the MC9300 for its combination keypad/touch screen and the ability to capture barcodes as far as 70 feet. Devices are equipped with Zebra LifeGuard for Android that provides security updates needed to keep mobile computers secure and easy end-to-end control of the OS update process, plus support for the next two versions of Android. Zebra’s device can run existing Terminal Emulation (TE) apps right out of the box so migrating to Android is a seamless process.
